CLASSICAL CROSSOVER ARTIST CROSSES OVER TO CAPE COD
Award Winning Solo Pianist Brings Own Brand to CCCC
SOUTH YARMOUTH — Composer-pianist Dan Kennedy will make a live concert appearance at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2019. This solo piano concert will be held at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, 307 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth, MA.
Kennedy’s latest album Mountains Made of Shadow, Anthems Made of Light (Mt. Pollux Music) is a finalist for the Enlightened Piano Radio Album of the Year, to be announced in Montréal this September 2019. The album was just named #5 on Gaia Prime Radio’s Best Contemporary Instrumental Albums of 2018.
A native of Bedford, Massachusetts, Kennedy’s music harkens back to the Romantic Era of 1830s Germany when piano students were required to include an improvisation in their home concerts. With a style described as “Classical Crossover,” Dan Kennedy is a contemporary solo pianist, classically trained at Oberlin Conservatory and New England Conservatory. Compare Dan to fellow Whisperings Artist Chad Lawson, who, according to a November 2018 Rolling Stone article, presents reimagined versions of Chopin.
“People ask me all the time,” says Kennedy, “how I compose my music and the bottom line is, I don’t completely know. It’s not a glamorous process of bringing the music back from a mountain top with lightning flashing all around. It tends to happen for me just by sitting at the piano, keeping the bits and pieces I like. A work is never really finished, and it morphs from show to show.”
Tickets are $20. To reserve tickets ahead of time please visit www.cultural-center.org. Complimentary wine and cheese.
